SMETA is the most widely used social audit in the world and is Sedex’s social auditing methodology, enabling businesses to assess their sites and suppliers to understand working conditions in their supply chain. Sedex is one of the world’s leading ethical trade membership organisation, working with businesses to improve working conditions in global supply chains.
CAPRO works closely with our plantation and co-operatives to ensure that the best and fair market prices are paid for raw cashew nuts, whereby payment for suppliers across all of the value chain is conducted on a strict 30 days minimum basis.
Environment
Key factors within our environmental policy relate to waste management and energy use. Our production plant utilizes the latest process technology to ensure it is as energy efficient as possible. All our waste is handled by authorised waste handling companies and where we are planning to recycle all our waste where possible.
Suppliers
We have a policy to buy where possible from local suppliers, all the ancillary products and services we need to keep our operation running on a day to day basis.
Employees
Because we are fully automated and unlike other cashew nut producers, we employ plant operators rather than relying on hard manual blue color labour, for our production processing This means the CAPRO workforce are trained, and employed in a modern food production environment. We have a strong management team with professional human resources systems to take care, monitor, train and support our employees
Health & Safety
Every CAPRO employee is properly equipped for the employment role they have, from uniforms, to personal safety equipment. Capro operates an infirmary in factory, and strongly supports SMETA protocol.
